Morocco Earthquake Relief
Back to our workOn 8th September 2023, Morocco was hit hard by a strong earthquake measuring magnitude 6.8. Remote communities in the High Atlas Mountains were badly affected.
The Eve Branson Foundation worked quickly with our partners to lead a co-ordinated response within hours to get immediate relief on the ground in Asni and surrounding villages. We launched a major fundraising appeal to help with long-term recovery efforts.
We have distributed dozens of tonnes of vital supplies since the earthquake struck. EBF has restored infrastructure and essential community spaces to include pre-schools, playgrounds and water wells as well as extensive repairs to a large study centre and two craft centres.
Our latest project is now complete, rebuilding a large primary school in the village of Imi Oughlad for 180 children that was completely devastated by the earthquake. We are about to embark on our second schools rebuild project in Tansghart.
